Near Real-Time Meter Interrogation  

The ability to collect readings and perform other meter operations, directly from meters on an “as-needed” basis has naturally become a mandatory requirement of any utility investing in advanced metering infrastructure. Utilities should expect an AMI system to greatly improve their ability to sense their systems without writing service orders.

PowerOneData’s AMS-9000 system Users communicate with individual meters on a scheduled basis AND on an as needed basis as required. This capability is critically important in managing mid-cycle meter work orders and inquiries. AMS-Web allows system operators, at their discretion, to locate and read any meter on the system within an acceptably short time period in order to respond to such day-to-day utility requirements as customer “move-ins/move-outs”.

Providing accurate information in a near real-time environment helps reduce service calls for re-reads, customer changes, read verifications or reading justifications.
